چکیده
The one anastomosis gastric bypass (OAGB) is an effective treatment to induce sustained weight loss in morbidly obese patients. Concerns remain regarding the development of reflux. aim this study was investigate effect “anti-reflux suture” as anti-reflux modification prevent This a single-center retrospective cohort patients who underwent primary OAGB at Center Obesity North-Netherlands (CON) between January 2015 and December 2016. Reflux defined symptoms acid/bilious regurgitation or pyrosis. consequently asked reported each follow-up visit. Outcomes with suture were compared those without. In 414 (59%) 703 included patients, applied. Follow-up 3 years 74%. incidence reflux did not differ without (57 versus 56%, respectively; P = 0.9). presence significantly associated lower conversion Roux-en-Y (RYGB) for (OR 0.56, 95%CI 0.34–0.91). Patients preoperatively diagnosed gastroesophageal disease (GERD) 5.2 times more likely need RYGB (95%CI 2.7–10.1). preoperative GERD should be weighted heavily decision perform major risk factor surgery due might valuable addition procedure because it results fewer surgeries

Mini-Gastric Bypass/One-Anastomosis Gastric Bypass—Standardizing the Name
To the Editor: After performing many of the alternatives in bariatric surgery during more than two decades, we read with interest the initial ideas Dr. Rutledge proposed in regard to the Bmini-gastric bypass^ (MGB) and embraced the possibility of performing a very effective operation with fewer risks [1]. Concerned about its major criticism, wemodified the original version of theMGB in order to...
متن کاملShort Intussusception Valves Prevent Reflux After Jejunal Interposition Bilioduodenal Anastomosis
Short whole circumference and semi-circumference intussusception valves were created in interposition cholecysto-jejunal-duodenal conduits in pigs to determine which method best prevented gastrointestinal reflux into the biliary tract. Following intravenous injection of 99 mTc-HIDA the time interval for its excretion from the liver and appearance in the duodenum was not different in either whol...
متن کاملLaparoscopic One-Anastomosis Gastric Bypass: Technique, Results, and Long-Term Follow-Up in 1200 Patients
BACKGROUND Excellent results have been reported with mini-gastric bypass. We adopted and modified the one-anastomosis gastric bypass (OAGB) concept. Herein is our approach, results, and long-term follow-up (FU). METHODS Initial 1200 patients submitted to laparoscopic OAGB between 2002 and 2008 were analyzed after a 6-12-year FU. Mean age was 43 years (12-74) and body mass index (BMI) 46 kg/m2...
متن کاملRevision surgery for one anastomosis gastric bypass with anti-reflux mechanism: a new surgical procedure using only not previously operated intestine.
INTRODUCTION Obesity is now an epidemic in industrialized countries with high prevalence (U.S. with 67%, Europa from 40% to 50%). This had led to the development of many bariatric procedures. Nevertheless, the primary surgery could fails due to several conditions. There is no standard re-operative procedure of revision for primary bariatric failure. Re-operate in the place of the primary surger...
متن کاملMini Gastric Bypass (mgb)/ One Anastomosis Gastric Bypass (oagb): from the Dark Days to Golden Dawn
It was in 2001 when Dr. Rutledge reported the first results with 1274 cases concerning a new surgical procedure addressing obesity: MGB1. For us, bariatric surgeons implementing Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass (RYGB), this fact was surprising, given the disappearance of two of the RYGB main concepts: the alimentary limb and the jejuno-jejunal anastomosis. Those who, like me, have experienced this surg...
